Kurt did a great job and was a pleasure to work with. We decided to work with him because he'd been the architect for a friends' renovation which turned out beautifully. With us, he started by helping us to get a sense of the style(s) that we both liked and what we didn't like. That was informative for him, but also for us because we ended up with a really clear sense of what we wanted. Kurt was super patient with us as we tried out different options. He offered his expertise and opinion, but deferred to what we wanted. Most importantly, Kurt is incredibly creative… we had some things that we wanted that weren't straightforward, but he always found a way to make them happen and look great. We were also very happy with the people he recommended, such as the structural engineer, and how he took care of the permitting process, issues that came up during construction, etc. Overall, it was a great experience and we love our house, largely because of what Kurt was able to contribute.

We hired Useldinger Architects (Kurt) after we decided to remodel our 1950's home in Monte Sereno, CA. We had significant space and flow issues both inside and outside the home. The home was chopped up with no open space and simply was not functional for a young family and for entertaining. Kurt was able to help us design an updated and modern living space with an open concept feel that looks amazing inside and out. By using 3-D modeling and sophisticated design software, we were able to see exactly what the massive changes he was proposing would look like at completion. He also helped with the design of our new front patio and back yard deck and outdoor living space. 
If you are looking to do something a little different and unique, Useldinger Architects is a great place to start!!

Kurt at Useldinger Architects made a long lasting impact on our house and family. He guided us through what is normally a terrifying process of tearing apart our kitchen, family room and dining room. The end result was an award winning, fully useful and stunning area we were proud of! His ability to extract our unique design desires in to a free flowing area was the real value add for us. We wanted a very modern vibe within an older ranch house. That isn't normal and it was a challenge. After many iterations, the end result was simply stunning and actually turned in to an internal work of art... I'd highly recommend Kurt for his creativity and ability to adapt during what is always a stressful period.

This was a residential renovation of and addition to an older house with good bones that had not been well maintained and had been subjected to several DIY projects that appeared to be beyond the capabilities of those who did them. Kurt's design solutions both suited our taste and were consistent with the original style and design of the house. In particular, he suggested a limited number of minor touches (pass throughs, moving a dividing wall) that quite cost effectively opened up the house and made it much more livable, but also was true to its original design and incorporated its positive features. His design of the new and expand master suite used existing elements to create a vastly improved layout. Kurt offered solutions that enabled us to obtain quick permitting. He supervised construction which was significantly closer to budget and on schedule than other neighborhood projects. He was very responsive when field conditions required adaptations to original plans, and devised solutions that kept costs increases of the project reasonable. He was a pleasure to work with and made what is often a very stressful process a very positive experience.

My wife and I hired Kurt for a house remodel project. As we started the planning phase, it became clear that this was almost full construction project due to the age of the house.

Kurt was upfont and honest about setting our expectations on what needed to be done. He built out plans based on ideas we had. He helped us through the permit process and took responsibility for guiding us through the daunting tasks.

He also made trips to construction site to answer questions our contractor had. We are very happy with our engagement. I have also recommended Kurt to other friends in the SF bay area.

Kurt Useldinger has completed plans for our remodel and addition in Scotts Valley. His plans were approved by the City of Scotts Valley. Kurt has done an excellent job. His ideas are great, and his plans are quality work. More important, Kurt spent time communicating with the planning department and shaping the project with the approval process in mind. 
Kurt is a very positive and optimistic person to work with. He took his time to get to know exactly what our priorities are in remodeling our house. It’s hard to find an architect that takes the time to listen and put together a project that focuses on your expectations and priorities. Kurt is easy to talk with and made the process much easier. We highly recommend Kurt Useldinger as your architect if you are planning an addition or a remodel. Picking the right architect is the most important first step in getting your ideas turned into a reality, and if you spend a little time with Kurt I’m sure you’ll see why we recommend him.

Kurt did an amazing job designing our house. He helped our dream house become a reality. He is very easy to work with and comes up with creative ideas. He knows how to work with the planning department and other engineers so the house you dream of can be a reality with out mortgaging your future.
